Srila Prabhupada the strategic thinker

Srila Prabhupada the strategic planner

“Everyone should become a devotee of Krishna. That is the plan. That is the whole plan.” Room Conversation – Jakarta, February 27th, 1973

Vision as given by previous Archaryas

guru_parampara_iskcon-153x153Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu desired that in every village, every town, every county, every city, this sankirtana movement will be there, and people will feel obliged to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu: “My Lord, You have given us so sublime thing.” This is the prediction. To this Srila Prabhupada further added “Simply we have to try our best. So it is not very difficult. You have installed the Deity. Take in different buses and go from city to city, town to town, village to village.”

In 1896, Srila Bhaktivinod Thäkura completed the Jaiva-dharma and made a remarkable prediction, “A personality will soon appear to preach the teachings of Sri Caitanya and move unrestrictedly over the whole world with his message.” 1896 was also the birth year of the great personality who would become His Divine Grace Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupäda.

Srila Prabhupäda would witness the first aeroplane flight and the start of modern-day jet travel. Using these new convenience—unimagined in the days of the Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur—from 1966 to His disappearance in 1977, Srila Prabhupäda would circle the globe fourteen times and with the founding of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness spread the teachings of the Golden Avatära, Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahäprabhu, unrestrictedly to every town and village of the world. In this way, Srila Prabhupada also fulfilled the prediction of Mahäprabhu, who said five hundred years earlier in the Sri Caitanya-bhägavata, “In every town and village, my name will be sung.”

“Yes, this preaching work is our mission. It is Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s mission, my Guru Maharaja’s mission, and my mission. It is through the parampara. As I am trying to discharge my Guru Maharaja’s mission, you also try and things will go on nicely.”  Letter to: Pusta Krsna-  Bombay, 14 August, 1976

So Srila Prabhupada went great extent to fulfill the predication, vision and desires of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur and ultimately Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

In the same way if we profess to be member of ISKCON and followers of Srila Prabhupada, we should humbly dedicate ourselves to fulfilling the vision and missions of Srila Prabhupada, the previous Acharyas and Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

We need to understand and see the vision of ISKCON through Srila Prabhuapada’s desires and the purpose of ISKCON. In line with Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Srila Prabhupada’s invitation is open ended, everyone back Home to Godhead.

“Yes, we must expand, we must expand. Now the framework of expansion is done by me, but this, they should be solidified. Just like your skyscraper building. The framework is done then they are made nicely air-conditioned and covered by glass (indistinct). It makes a nice house. Similarly, so far the framework is done. I have done with your help. Now we have to push this movement. It is very important movement. It is not a farce. It is actually for the benefit of the human society. They are kept in darkness about God. And we are delivering God, “Here is God.” So that must be pushed.” Conversation with the GBC, May 25, 1972, Los Angeles

Srila Prabhupada has given us the essence and foundation to grow and continue Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s sankirtan movement.
So as sincere followers of Srila Prabhupada we need to intelligently formulate our own our plans to expand ISKCON whilst at the same time aligning to Srila Prabhupada’s mission and vision.

Srila Prabhupada – The First Strategic Thinker

Sesa Prabhu, a GBC member and a member of two SPN committees, Education and Constitution, speaks on Srila Prabhupada being the first strategic thinker among us, his vision for education being an example that illustrates this. That vision covers all aspects of our Society, and if we follow it, it will solidify both ISKCON’s present and its future.
